● BUYER'S GUIDE
Scanning booth or smartphone? A buyer's guide to 3D body scanners for stores, showrooms and tailoring: requirements, measurements, integrations, privacy.
Updated October 2026
In short
A 3D body scanner produces a 3D model of the body and a set of anthropometric measurements, used for made-to-measure, size charts and product development. The core choice is between a fixed booth, suited to a store or showroom with a permanent location, and video scanning on a smartphone, suited to measuring people remotely or across several sites. Before choosing, be clear about what the measurements are for and where they will end up.
The question that shapes the decision is not technical: it is about how the data will be used. There are four common uses, and each brings its own requirements.
Booth: 3D Body Scanner
Smartphone: ScanFlow
The two are not mutually exclusive. A showroom can host the 3D Body Scanner and use ScanFlow for clients who cannot visit in person.
Before requesting a quote, check the available floor space, where the changing area will go, the power socket and the network. Installation, calibration and training for the people who will run the booth are agreed with the supplier.
Check the benefit on your own case: decide in advance what to measure, such as alterations on a made-to-measure garment, and compare before and after.
A person's 3D model and measurements are personal data. The questions to ask cover where processing takes place, where and for how long profiles are stored, who can access them, how consent is collected and how deletion requests are handled.
In the WeWear booth, processing happens locally on the 4 mini PCs and output is available on the management PC. In ScanFlow, profiles approved by the operator remain on the platform for later use. Documentation on data processing is available on request.

The booth captures the body with 12 sensors at a fixed site and processes data locally. ScanFlow's smartphone scanning needs no hardware: the person uses their own phone and an operator reviews and approves the measurements. The first suits stores and showrooms, the second suits measuring people remotely or across several sites.
The assembled booth is 2,195 mm high, 1,212 mm deep and 1,190 mm wide. It needs around 1.7 m², plus 1 m² for the changing area, and a standard power socket.

It depends on the configuration and intended use. If you tell us where it would be installed and how it would be used, we send a technical sheet, recommended configuration and quote.
