# Complete the look: showing outfits on the product page

October 17, 2026

A shopper lands on a jacket's product page. They like it, add it to the cart and leave. They never saw the trousers your team had in mind for that jacket, or the shirt that goes under it. The catalogue had them, the product page did not.

This guide looks at why «complete the look» matters for a fashion store, where to show it and how to keep it under the brand's control.

## The limit of the product page

A product page is built around a single item. Photos, sizes, description, price. Matching the rest is up to the shopper, who has to go back to the catalogue, search, filter and imagine how two items seen on different pages look together. Many do not: they buy one piece, or nothing.

In a store, sales staff do this work. Online you need something that does it for them, at the moment the shopper is already deciding.

## What makes a good «complete the look»

- **Few items, well chosen.** Two or three items that really go together are worth more than a grid of generic suggestions.
- **In-stock items only.** Suggesting a sold-out item leads the shopper to a dead end just when they were ready to buy.
- **Consistent with the brand's style.** A look your stylist would not approve does more harm than no look at all.
- **Easy to buy.** Shoppers should be able to add the items in the look to the cart without starting over.

## The AI proposes, the brand decides

Building looks by hand for every item is not realistic when there are hundreds of references and they change every season. Leaving everything to an algorithm, however, means giving up control of the brand's image.

StyleFlow works in between: the AI proposes looks from the catalogue, with in-stock items only, and your team approves, excludes or edits them in the back end. You can set exclusion and promotion rules, and review the looks when the season changes, a campaign starts or a new collection arrives.

## Where to show it

- **Product page**: the «Complete your look» section, with the total price and the items to add together.
- **Homepage**: looks of the week and editorial outfits, for visitors who arrive without a specific item in mind.
- **Cart**: before checkout, a look built around the items already chosen.
- **Email**: outfits in follow-up messages.

## What you need to start

Access to your product feed and the widget on the pages, with no backend changes. From there the engine only works on references that are in stock.

## How to tell whether it works

The cleanest way is an A/B test: part of the traffic sees pages with the looks, the rest without, over the same period. The metrics to watch are items per order, average order value and conversion on the pages involved. We wrote a guide on [how to set up an A/B test on a fashion store](https://wewear.tech/en/blog/ab-testing-fashion-ecommerce-how-to-measure?hsLang=en).

Module details are on the [StyleFlow](https://wewear.tech/en/styleflow?hsLang=en) page.
